How can I make my ps3 recognize my toshiba external hard drive?

I plug it into my ps3 and i dont know what to look for from there. What do i need to do?

make sure on your Hard Drive You Have The Folders VIDEO (in Caps) ect and make sure that is in PS3 format so it can read the video I Think PS3 plays WMV but you need the video to be in the VIDEO’s folder and the same for any other sort of content so photos would be i the PHOTO folder

Hook the external drive up to your PC and format it in the FAT32 file extension(it’s the only one that a PS3 will recognize). Then, put the files you want on it, and you should be able to find them once the drive is connected to the PS3

The PS3 only recognizes FAT32 drives. You only access it under file browser mode on the PS3.
